Main Stay Inn B&B in Cape May NJ |
Bed & Breakfasts
Most B&Bs are located in Historic Cape May. This Victorian town is said to be the first resort in the United States and has the most Victorian architecture in the country. Although Cape May is famous for it's B&Bs, bed and breakfasts are found all along the Jersey Shore, from Ocean Grove in the north to Ocean City in the south. Bed and Breakfasts are perfect for that romantic, relaxing getaway.
B&Bs get their names because the owners give you a bed (room) and serve you breakfast in the morning. While there you get to mingle with the other guests in the living room or on the porch and possibly make some life long friends. The owners of B&Bs are very knowledgeable about the area and can give you great advice on what to see and do. Staying at a Bed and Breakfast is like going back in time. Before the modern hotel, it was normal for people to open up their homes and rent out rooms to travelers.
Guest Houses
Guest Houses are a rarity, however there are still a few around. These are essentially B&B minus the breakfast. You still stay with the owner, often times with other guests, however rental homes are by far the most common along the Jersey Shore.
